Bretby Vase

A beautifully proportioned vase designed by Bretby. An early design of Bretby, this elegant vase features a multi-coloured drip glaze and takes inspiration from the works of Linthorpe Pottery.

Bretby Art Pottery was an art studio based in Woodville, Derbyshire, which was founded in 1882 by Henry Tooth and William Ault. Henry Tooth went into partnership with Ault following his successful leadership of the celebrated Linthorpe Pottery in Middlesbrough. The partnership was dissolved in 1887 when William Ault left, but Bretby vases continued to be made by Henry Tooth and his family until 1993.
