An original French mannequin bust made by Frederic Stockman in Paris, France. The fabric has aged wonderfully, and features ‘STOCKMAN’ across the chest, its size model on the neck, and the company location and bust model number. Please note, there are a few small holes in the fabric most noticeable across the bust and shoulders. A fantastic female form, this bust dates from the 1920s, which has been verified by Siegel & Stockman.
Frederic Stockman, a young sculpture, created the Stockman’s dressmakers form in 1867. He opened a small shop at 150 Rue Legendre in Paris, with the idea of providing dressmakers with forms in different standardized sizes. The forms are handcrafted from papier mache applied onto a mould, stapled together and sanded, they are then padded and covered in fabric.
