An impeccable example of a Westerwald jug, made in West Germany by Gerz, circa 1880s. This gothic pottery style features the mask of an Eagle sitting underneath the pouring lip of the jug. This jug is intricately carved and finished with a salt glaze in blue and grey. The impressed makers mark is visible on the bottom of the jug along with ‘550’.
